Make-up your mind is a short film about a young student who is obsessed with her appearance and altering it. With a small crew, a mere 1500 euro budget and a lot of energy, director Dominique Vermaas and I went from concept to completion in 16 weeks.

Vivian is a 21 year old psychology student who works part-time in a clothing store. She is a modern and fashionable girl. Unconsciously Vivian starts to develop an obsession for her looks and delves into a world filled with fear and instability that leaves the audience wondering what is real and what is delusion.

Plotline

The goal of the Make-up your mind was to shine an ironic light on the ideal image that the media projects onto society this day and age. The fashion industry utilizes extremely thin models for their promotional campaigns and still edit the images through Photoshop. The results are images that are no longer realistic and provide an unachievable body image. The protagonist in the film struggles with the endless pursuit of attaining the ideal body image of the 21st century.

I worked as a cinematographer, editor and colorist on this production.
